I think Shuurei is very driven to change Ryuuki, since the result of doing so would benefit her fading family's prestige greatly. She's intelligent, focused and so I think will be able to suceed.

this show is such a comedy more than romantic/harem thing since shuurei is kinda clueless lol :) and shuurei goes $$ whenever monie is mentioned hehe.they pull out a few jokes from the novel tho , like why they are so damn poor lol

It doesn't hurt that the OP and ED is gorgeous .. though I'm curious about the whole 'homosexual emperor' thing. IS it a rumour, or is he a bi? Which will make things super spicy as Shuurei may have competition from other (cough) candidates. tee hee.

But yes, Saiunkoku needs more love. I think there's more to it than the obvious reverse bishonen harem plot... plus as you mentioned Shuurei seems smarter than your average shoujo cookie heroine. I don't think she's gonna let Ryuuki get away that easily.
